Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Dottie is a proud Tar Heel and a longtime Blue Devils fan. She has over twenty-five years’ experience in the communication field, including strategic direction, graphic design, publishing, branding, project management and client relations. Most recently Dottie owned an award-winning design studio in Grand Rapids Michigan with local, national and international clients. She works closely with clients to help determine and communicate their vision and story through both traditional and new media. Dottie values strategic thinking, daring design, and has a down-to-earth love for people that builds strong collaborative and client relationships.
Dottie is fascinated with politics, architecture, design and history. She’s a lifelong learner who is always interested in understanding other people and their cultures.

A native Michigander, Roberta is the founder of Canna Communication. She has had a notable career in the field of public relations and marketing. She values long-term relationships and knows the importance of creating a strong and consistent brand. Roberta believes in planning before tactics; stories over data, and in the power of good design. She’s been in charge of communication in disaster situations including Hurricane Andrew in South Florida; she’s worked in hospital healthcare; at an art museum and in community philanthropy. Roberta is accredited in Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America. She presently is serving on the board of the West Michigan PRSA and is active in the local ACLU branch.
Roberta is a published author, her memoir He Plays a Harp was released in 2013.
